Introducing our new FitFluential Explorer TRAVEL Series
It’s been a long time coming. We are so excited to announce our brand new FitFluential Explorer Travel series. Soon, we will launch a permanent hub on FitFluential covering all things travel, from regional travel in the United States, to global travel all over the world. We’ll cover great places to go for vacation and we’ll also showcase what to do when you travel for business. Our goal is to show everyone from corporate and business individuals to families, couples and more how to fit in fitness on the road.
The primary reason we are launching the FitFluential Explorer series is this. Particularly in America, we are a nation of overstressed, overworked, tired, and burned out individuals. We don’t get enough sleep. We are dealing with massive amounts of stress, and we aren’t taking care of ourselves. When we polled our FitFluential community, we discovered that over 87% of men and women are working more than 60 hours a week. Over 93% have not had a vacation in over 3 years. More than half of those polled regularly eat lunch at their desks at work, and more than 77% recall skipping lunch and/or breakfast because of being rushed and not having time. Less than 18% of our community that participated in the poll shared that they actively practice self-care. More than 25% didn’t really understand what self-care is. Close to 96% of those polled said they regularly feel tired and burned out with no energy for much outside of life. Approximately 70% stated that their fitness activity has declined because they are overworked and don’t have time or energy to work out regularly.
Do you see the big picture here? This way of life is not LIVING. This is all work and no play, and it’s taking a huge toll on our HEALTH.
This is why we want to focus heavily on TRAVEL. We know that if all of us focused more on using our vacation time for ACTUAL VACATIONS, we’d be more productive at work. There is unlimited data to support this. We need to RECHARGE, just like our phones need to be charged at night when we go to bed. Why don’t we give ourselves that same courtesy? Taking vacation is the first way to add some JOY back in to your life, and perhaps get that elusive “balance” back as well. And travel isn’t limited to vacation. We’ll show you how to take your weekends and plan shorter trips that will deliver the same benefits. Breaking out of your routine, breaking out of your rut, getting OUTSIDE to see the world around you- all of this will dramatically decrease your stress, improve your outlook on life, and greatly enhance your health and well-being.
Reduce Stress. Enjoy Life. Improve Health.
Do you accept this assignment? We thought so.
We want to encourage individuals and families to travel- so that they enjoy life more and decrease STRESS since stress is one of the biggest destroyers of overall health and wellness. (You might want to check out these interviews on FitFluential Radio, the podcast, on cortisol issues that arise when we are overworked and overstressed.)
“Yet if your stress response doesn’t stop firing, and these stress levels stay elevated far longer than is necessary for survival, it can take a toll on your health. Chronic stress can cause a variety of symptoms and affect your overall well-being. Symptoms of chronic stress include: irritability, anxiety, depression, headaches, insomnia” source
Do you know how many people don’t take vacations or use up their vacation time? It’s a very sad statistic. According to a study from the U.S. Travel Association’s Project Time Off – 52% of Americans didn’t even use all of their vacation days in 2017. In fact, the average American worker takes only about half of their allotted vacation time, according to an article published on Inc.com.
Are YOU leaving vacation days on the table?
STOP DOING THAT. We’ll be your constant source of motivation to take vacation. Become an EXPLORER. See the world with new eyes, and start in your own backyard!! (Tune in, in one of our first pieces, our founder Kelly Olexa will be sharing her take on Austin’s best hangouts– she moved there from Chicago!)
Our series will focus on showcasing places to visit and how to fit in fitness plus stick with your healthy lifestyle while on the go. You can fit in fitness in many ways while on the go. Take a walk (or run) on the beach, a resort fitness class or a fun bike ride.
The first few locations we’ll be showcasing are Park City|Chicago|Miami|New Orleans|Austin plus a Carnival cruise.
We will also be sharing the best of the best when it comes to travel fitness equipment, travel accessories, clothing, travel tips and more. Because whether you are traveling for work or for play, we want to help you fit in your fitness on the road easily. We’ll share eating tips as well so you don’t feel like your diet takes a break every time you travel. Heck no! The options now are endless.
Imagine how great you will feel taking a vacation where you stay active and experience new things. Speaking of staying active, we will also be sharing vacation ideas to keep you fit- but don’t FEEL LIKE a gym workout – like kayaking adventures, cycling, hiking and more. Here’s an example- it’s Kelly Olexa hiking up a HUGE mountain (note, this was only about 75% of the way to the top) in Park City, Utah. Talk about EXPLORING!!! We call her Grizzly Adams Olexa now.
One last thing. With all that adventure on your trips, you’ll need to focus just as much on REST and RELAXATION. It’s all about balance, right? We will be sure you know about the best spas, yoga studios, salons and restaurants in each area so you can kick back and chillax.
