If you’re a fan of cumin, you’re in luck.
Often used in curry and taco seasoning, cumin is smoky, slightly spicy, and can help you lose weight. According to a study done by the Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Iran, cumin helped people to lose up to 3 times more weight than those who did not add cumin to their food. All they did was eat one teaspoon of cumin per day, swirled into a cup of yogurt. Easy as that.
What makes cumin so powerful?
Cumin is rich in a cholesterol-blocking compound called phytosterols. Phytosterols prevent the body from absorbing too much cholesterol, which leads to better cholesterol levels (also evidenced in that same study!). And since it was shown to help people lose weight, it can be said that cumin increases your metabolic rate, effectively burning more calories.
How can you use cumin in your diet? It’s a perfect fit in chilis, soups, and roasted veggies. I like to sprinkle it on sweet potatoes before roasting them!
