Lately I have been obsessed with smoothies. But not just any smoothies – particularly smoothies that include avocado. Barely detectable by taste, avocados add a rich creaminess that can bring any smoothie recipe to the next level. It goes from breakfast to dessert-breakfast LIKE THAT. It also adds a mean dose of vitamins and nutrients to the mix.

But let’s talk about what this smoothie recipe is really about: the sweet, decadent taste. From a combination of banana, strawberry, avocado and chocolate protein powder, you can capture the flavor of a staple dessert. Hence the name, Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie.

When I first started making this smoothie, I used cocoa powder instead of protein powder (see ingredients below). That is completely fine, especially if you don’t have protein powder on hand. The taste will be virtually the same no matter which you use, but of course the powder adds protein that you wouldn’t be getting from this smoothie otherwise. So, if you’re enjoying this smoothie for breakfast, I definitely recommend using protein powder for an energy boost!
