Achieving wellness is all about treating our body right. And it’s more than just diet and exercise. Be kind to your taste buds. Be kind to your body. Most of all, be kind to the world. Here are 5 ways to be kind to your mind, body, and soul!
Some people volunteer to make friends. Others do it because it feels good. And all do it to make a difference. In a culture so focused on personal success, it’s easy to forget there’s an entire world out there. And in that world are people and things who could really use some help. Not only does giving back benefit society, it also benefits your health. It goes without saying that helping others feels good, but did you know giving back has also been linked to lowering stress, managing blood-pressure and life expectancy? We’re encouraging you to be kind in 2016 – and there’s plenty of ways to do it. Check out how KIND is making the world a little kinder for some inspiration.
Fuel Your Body – The Right Way
We all need food to fuel our bodies. But not all foods are equipped to do this. If you’re used to starting the day with a donut or pastry, you’re selling yourself short on a much more sustainable (and nutritious) way to enjoy breakfast. While foods like this may hold you over for a short time, they are in no way comparable to nutrient dense options like fruits, veggies and whole grains. Eating smart is one of the keys to a long and happy life. So why not eat KIND? Kind Snacks are made with wholesome ingredients intended to fuel, replenish and nourish the body.
Get Out of the House or Office (even in colder temps)
Whether you’re up to your ears in work or typically spend your time binge-watching Netflix, getting out more can help all of us. The truth is, sticking to these routines can be detrimental to your health. Shaking things up and getting out (whether it’s socially or solo) stimulates your mind and spirit. Firstly, getting out is fun. And when you’re having fun, you’re feeling happy. Secondly, getting out is a gateway of opportunity – an opportunity to make friends, experience new things, discover new hobbies – all of which contribute to overall wellness.
Sometimes the day just slips away from you. All of the sudden it’s 8pm and you realize you missed your workout. That’s okay! There are ways you can still get some activity in without a full-fledged sweat-session. Do some pushups while watching your favorite TV show. Have cleaning to do? Vacuuming definitely counts for something. Or, my personal favorite, “bench pressing” my 70-lb dog. Now, I know we have some gym rats out there – and even you can move more! Add on to that fitness streak with a few simple changes. Walk the dog ten minutes longer. Walk to your boss’s office instead of sending an email. The possibilities are endless!
Eat for the Yum Factor
We all have to eat to survive, so we might as well enjoy it, right? There is so much focus on being “healthy” that sometimes we forget to eat foods that we actually enjoy. No, I’m not talking about pizza and cheese fries (although these in moderation are great, too). I’m talking about nutritious foods that taste great. There so many creative ways to prepare real, whole foods that satisfy our taste buds just as much as they satisfy our body. Like nuts, fruit and honey for example! The nutrients found in KIND Snacks are a great way to get started on delicious yet nutritious eating habits. Try the KIND Fruit & Nut bar, for example. It’s an excellent source of fiber and contains healthy unsaturated fats.
