1. How do you define FitFluential?
To me, it is about constantly trying to improve myself, to maintain my weight loss, to push my fitness level outside of my comfort zone and to pay it all forward. I love seeing how far I can push my body and then go a step farther … that is being FitFluential.
2. What is your main motivation to be fit?
I have spent the past two-plus years changing my lifestyle through Weight Watchers and getting rid of over 60 lbs in the process. I never want to go back to how I was before, but rather keep my eye on being fit and healthy for my future. I recently turned 30 so I am ready to enter the next phase in my life in the best shape I have ever been.
3. FitFluential believes the key to balance is Eat, Sleep, More and Enjoy. What is your favorite way to enjoy life?
I love showing my wife New England. We just moved to Boston in January (me moving home and her moving for the first time) and it is so great to explore all the familiar spots through new eyes. Additionally, just spending time with her and our two dogs, which before was so rare with my busy work schedule. It is finally time to stop and enjoy my hard work.
4. What is your regular fitness routine?
I am currently training for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Full Marathon so that training is really in my forefront. But I love to supplement it with swimming and cross training (Spinning, Stairmaster, etc). Since I had major back surgery in January 2011, I try not to run on back-to-back days and I always make sure I have at least one rest day a week. I am enjoying my new weekend routine (my personal triathalon): swim on Friday, long run on Saturday and Spinning on Sunday. 🙂
5. What advice do you have for someone at the beginning of their fitness journey?
Don’t compare your journey to others. Everyone is different and will complete goals in different time frames. Just be the best you you can be and always listen to your body! You know yourself the best.
What is your favorite piece of workout flair?
I LOVE my Superman socks! It is great hearing people spot them while I am running. A little kid asked his dad while I ran by “Dad is that girl Superman?” It was awesome. Plus, they really boost my confidence while I am on the pavement. And I love seeing the little capes fly in the wind while I run. 🙂
