Race day. It goes by in a blur, but the memories last forever. Here are some of our favorite race day memories, and how you can preserve them forever with Project Repat.
There’s nothing like the rush of race day. If it’s a 5K, a half marathon, or a bucket-list race that you’ve been training for for months, it always leaves you exhausted, happy, and excited for the next one.
There are many emotions that come along with racing. It’s a fulfillment of your goal, it’s a benchmark for your progress, and it’s so much more. You can find people laughing, crying, and celebrating at the finish line, with friends and family surrounding them with “job well done!” and hearty pats on the back. After the race, you now share a bond with your fellow runners- you all did it! You made it! And you CRUSHED it. When you see someone years later wearing a shirt touting the name of that race in neon letters, you can tap them on the shoulder and say “I was there too!” and it won’t be weird. Well, not totally weird.
If thinking about your past races gives you the warm fuzzies, turn them into literal warm fuzzies with Project Repat. You send them your race day shirts, they send it back to you as a cozy, warm t-shirt blanket. You can snuggle with those memories forever. Crossing the Disney Marathon Finish line and seeing my husband waiting for me with a balloon. My thoughts… I did it, I really freaking did it! Quote I love: Never give up on your dreams and If you can dream it you can obtain it! Having fun is my ultimate goal in racing. – Tricia
Having your family cheering you on and waiting at the finish line. It’s an incredible feeling. And just knowing that YOU DID IT!!! – Myra
Running alongside my friends made the race so much fun, I know I wouldn’t have had a good time without them! We chatted about everything and the race was over before we knew it. We all crossed the finish line together and it was amazing. – Marissa
Race day is very inspiring to me because I’m surrounded by a lot of people that want to improve their lives! – Dave
My favorite part is afterwards, when you can sit back and have a beer with the other runners. It’s so much fun to relax and let loose after all that training! – Lauren
Love the energy of race day! It’s the culmination of all the planning and preparation and a chance to do what you love with friends in a festive environment! – Jennifer
My favorite recent memory at a race is watching my husband finish his first obstacle course race. Even though he’s an athlete, he didn’t want to run because he didn’t like the idea of getting dirty — I shamed him into signing up. It was an especially messy, muddy, flooded course. I finished first and waited, worrying the whole time how mad he was going to be about the conditions and at me for getting him into this fiasco. I finally saw him jumping the fire and heading toward the finish line with a huge smile — he loved it! Now, we do these races together all the time and it’s been a great way to reconnect!
