Michael Chapiro is the founder and CEO of Carbon Shade, a company specialized in the manufacturing and selling of blue and green light blocking glasses. Today, Michael joins us on the show to share his story on what inspired him to create Carbon Shade, why he believes blocking blue and green light is so important for your circadian biology and overall health, as well as why he has decided to take a completely transparent approach to marketing the glasses created by the company.
Michael explains that while he was actively searching for blue and green light blocking glasses, he found it increasingly difficult to find a supplier that understood the importance of adequately blocking this type of light and the specific spectrum necessary to trigger melatonin suppression. He explains how his health and sleep has improved since wearing blue-blocking eyewear, and what simple steps you can take to improve your sleep, wake up feeling refreshed, and have more energy throughout the day.
“When you are sleep deprived for a long time, you stop being able to accurately gauge how sleep deprived you are. It becomes ‘the new norm’.” Michael Chapiro
