This Thanksgiving, you should #BurnTheTurkey. No, really.
Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and it just might be the biggest day of the year. Calorie-wise, that is. According to the Calorie Control Council (yes, that’s a real thing) and the American Council of Exercise, the average American eats 3,000-4,500 calories in one Thanksgiving meal.
We’ve partnered with Anytime Fitness and celebrity Chef G. Garvin (he’s on the Food Network you guys) to bring you one simple message: Burn the Turkey. Strike a match and LET IT BURN. Just kidding, put the matches down, you pyro. We’re burning those turkey calories with tongue-in-cheek themed exercises in hopes of inspiring everybody to plan ahead and counteract their Thanksgiving Day indulgences with a little extra exercise. And you could even win a free 1-year membership for submitting your own ideas on how to #BurnTheTurkey!
For every original pic or video shared with a #BurnTheTurkey exercise and hashtag, Anytime Fitness will donate $1 to Feeding America (up to $25,000) to help families in need this holiday season. And you’ll also be entered for a chance to win a free 1-year membership at Anytime Fitness. Read more at BurnTheTurkey.com!
Here’s some inspiration; have fun burning the turkey!
The Cranberry Curl
Get a mean bicep pump when you curl these cans. We’re going for high reps here, and form is key. Grasp that cranberry sauce like you mean business. Tuck those elbows! FEEL THE BURN. And for the first time ever, you can multitask while doing bicep curls. Isn’t fitness fun?
Let it rip, let it whip. Upper body cardio combined with mad whisking skills is the next generation of fitness fusion. It’s the new shake & bake. Equipment required: one bowl, one whisk, and the need for speed. Get to whisking and whip whatever you’re making (and yourself) into shape. Plus, you will be the main entertainment of the day. Watch and learn, friends and family. This is the new face of fitness.
Small Talk Wall Sits
Sure, listening to your grandma talk about setting you up with that “really nice boy from the butcher store” is like, super interesting, but wouldn’t you rather work on those rock hard quads? Press your back against a wall and bend your knees to a 90 degree angle. Everyone will just think you’re sitting in a chair anyway, and that your face is really red because you’re blushing thinking about that nice boy from the butcher’s.
Couch Plank Outs
Don’t be a couch potato, be a couch chicken, or some other healthy food. That didn’t sound as motivating as I thought it would. But what I’m saying is that you can stay on that couch and still work that hot bod of yours. It’s a couch plank! So you don’t even have to take your eyes off of the football game. In fact, it’ll probably the lucky charm that your team needs to win. And if you drop that plank, they’ll start losing. This has not been proven, but has your uncle’s lucky jersey been proven? NO BUT IT WORKS AND DON’T YOU DARE QUESTION IT.
Thanksgiving Day means you get to see your family all in one place, how beautiful is that? Show your affection by deeply lunging towards them as they approach you for a hug. It will be so endearing as you hold their legs in a warm embrace. You can also serve hors d’oeuvres from a lunge position. Your relatives will be impressed at how you are so accommodating, to bring the tray down to a reasonable level that doesn’t require them to reach up. Because you know when the tray is too high, and all the toppings start to fall off of your fancy crackers? Ugh. The worst. Prevent toppings-droppings by lunging.
Here’s how Chef Garvin is burning the turkey this Thanksgiving, and how you can, too.
