There’s something inherently “spiced” about fall, and it only makes sense that the most popular flavors of this season are pumpkin spice and chai. They just go so well with cooler nights, hay rides and apple picking. (In case you couldn’t tell, I’m definitely one of the people that people whine about during fall).
However, as a Floridian, we don’t get much of a fall. Our fall is more like… temperatures drop into the high 70’s, the palm trees get a little bit brown, and every person in the entire world comes down to vacation.
I live in Florida. I don’t have much to complain about. But as a native Pennsylvanian, I do miss the crisp air of fall and finding bright orange leaves scattered across the streets. Since I don’t have that, I make do by amping up the fall flavors and savoring as much “spice” as I can.
While I buy into the hype of the season, I definitely don’t buy into the products. Not when I can make them myself and have them taste so much better! Every seasonal goodie starts with the basic mixture of spices we call “pumpkin pie spice” and “chai,” and chances are that you already have the spices you need in your own pantry. All you need to do is mix them together!
